Welcome to Katty Korner.

This is how Katty Korner was started…

About 100 miles south of the San Diego/Tijuana border, is a little village called
Cantu, just southwest of Ensenada.   A lot of tourists and visitors drive through Cantu, on their way to one of the biggest tourist attraction is the BUFADORA, where a natural blowhole can be admired up close.

It was back in 2016, when this much needed CAT SHELTER was founded by two cat-loving women, who clearly saw the need and provided the start-up funds. They named it KATTY KORNER.   This place survives because of the regular generous donations of the local expat community, which pays for the cat’s housing, daily food, spay & neuter, medication, shots and regular doctors visits, plus for paid help for daily feeding and cleaning.

It takes a LOT to run a cat sanctuary, and, of course, we are always looking for volunteers with some extra time on their hands and love in their heart!
Since the beginning, we have placed over 100 CATS and KITTENS into “fur-ever” loving homes!

Katty Korner started out in a shelter in Cantu that also housed dogs.  Some of the dogs were free to roam inside the shelter and some of the dogs didn’t like cats.  Data, LInda and myself felt the cats needed their own place.  It took a couple of months to find a place to house the cats and that’s how Katty Korner was started.
With the help of some of our community residents and PayPal, we hired a contractor, Fernando Munoz, to fix the inside of the apartment, to accumulate for the cats.  Fernando did several special details to make it more comfortable for the cats.  This all started in November of 2015.  We rented the apartment with bessings of the landlord Frank Barba.

Between vet bills, vaccinations, building rent and even kitty litter, it takes a lot of time and money to manage a good shelter and adoption program.  All donations are welcome and even the smallest contribution makes a big difference.

One-Time Donations AND Subscriptions (recurring payments) – The DONATE button below takes you to PayPal where you enter the amount of your donation and if you wish it to be a one-time donation or a monthly subscription.

PayPal is our payments processor, but you are not required to have a PayPal account to give a one-time donation or to make a subscription donation. When the button takes you to PayPal, look at the bottom of the page and there you can use your credit or debit card instead of a PayPal account.

Originally, Katty Korner started out in a shelter that also housed dogs; some of the dogs were free to roam inside the shelter and others didn’t like cats.  Data and LInda felt the cats needed their own place and they ended up finding the purr-fect place in Cantu, a rural village SW of Ensenada.

We started out with 15 cats, ended up with 65 within the first year, and into the 2nd year, we are down to 36 cats of which 12 are kittens.

Our goal is to place the 12 kittens into furr-ever homes by the end of October 2018.  Fyi, kittens are easier to adopt out than adults cats.
